Let’s Get Started
The biggest challenge most people face in the social media space is CONTENT! How do I create content, how do I get started, I don’t have anything to say. These are all things I said to myself and I’m sure many of you out there are saying the same thing. The truth is, you have to accept your content will not be perfect when you get started. The sooner you accept that the faster you will get to creating good content.
So let’s get to the real reason you are here now. How to make a week’s worth of content with one topic.
Easy!
Once you have a topic in mind you will now have to decide on a long form of content you will create. Long-form content can be any of the following:
- Blog / Article
- Video (More than 5 Minutes)
- Podcast
- Ebook
Now each of these options should be able to fit you even if you are an introvert or extrovert. SO NO EXCUSES!!
Once you have decided on which long-form content you will create now you can breakdown your content strategy. In this scenario, we will assume you are writing a blog as your long-form content and focus on the social media platforms Instagram and LinkedIn. I will give content ideas for posting in Instagram Stories, Instagram Feed, and LinkedIn Feed. This is just an example template you can follow or modify to your unique style.
Here we go.

Again, this is just a template for people who want to create content using Blogs as their long-form content. The goal is to give you an idea of how you can stretch one topic into a week’s worth of content. You might be thinking, “Won’t I sound repetitive saying the same message all week?” The simple answer is no because this is your message and topic of the WEEK. Your audience will not always be able to see all your posts or stories when the digital space is so noisy. So you need to give them enough opportunities to see your message and content or at least remind them to see it.
That is also why I recommend throwing in some authentic posts into to mix to relieve some of that content discussion. It’s a break for your audience to know you more personally and for you to share something other than your message. It’s a win-win for both.
In short, you want to follow these steps.
-
Announce → Let audience know what to expect, ask for engagement on the topic
-
Show→ Show everyone how’s it going with the content focused on the topic of the week
-
Post → Publish your content and remind everyone it’s published
-
Summarize → Give teasers and reasons for the audience to see content
-
Action → Give the audience an action to take, Q/A, Challenge, Feedback, etc
If you can follow these steps as a guide, then I am confident you will eventually develop your own strategy and unique style of posting. Follow these easy steps to get started, and as you begin creating content you must also monitor the analytics that goes with it. Review which pieces of content received more likes, comments, shares, etc. You will eventually learn how to tailor your content to best fit your audience. I hope with this you are more confident to begin taking action in your content and most importantly GET STARTED!!!
